Victim of gruesome Florida murder used to live in RI
The victim of a gruesome murder in Florida has strong ties to Rhode Island, where she has family members.
The funeral for 55-year-old Francisca Monteiro-Balla will be held in Pawtucket this weekend. The burial will be in Providence.
Monteiro-Balla was murdered at her home in Royal Palm Beach, Florida last Friday, allegedly by her daughter.
Francisca moved to Florida from North Providence more than 20 years ago.
Her obituary from a Rhode Island funeral home states she went to Hope High School in Providence and the Community College of Rhode Island.
Her daughter, Camille, was in court earlier this week, charged with the horrific murder.
Court documents state police found Francisca at the home she shared with her daughter with large cuts on her body and her eyes had been removed.
Police found large shards of broken glass near the body.
The report states Camille was covered in blood and screamed “I’m a murderer. I’m a murderer!”
Police said Camille told them she had smoked marijuana she suspected was laced with other drugs, PCP or flakka, which is like bath salts.
The obituary for Francisca states she was loved by everyone who knew her, that she loved shopping for clothes and hats, loved the beach and watching the sunrise.
“She had a heart of gold and never stopped giving,” the obituary states.
