Tell Connecticut Lawmakers To Support Marijuana Legalization
I received the following message from the Connecticut Coalition to Regulate Marijuana:
In the last week, two committees have held hearings on legalizing marijuana for adults’ use, with a third hearing scheduled for next week. Last Thursday, the General Law Committee held a hearing on HB 5458, and on Monday, the Judiciary Committee considered SB 487. Both bills would legalize and regulate sales of marijuana for adults’ use. Several other bills addressing other aspects of the program will be introduced and considered by other committees in the coming weeks.
Testimony at both hearings was overwhelmingly in support of the legislation, which is not surprising since according to a recent poll, 71% of Connecticut residents support regulating and taxing marijuana for adults’ use. Despite this support, the General Law Committee voted against moving the bill forward.
However, this debate is far from over! Three other committees still have bills before them, and legalization could come to the floor even without a committee vote. But we need your help! Write to your lawmakers today and tell them the time has come for Connecticut to legalize, regulate, and tax marijuana for adults use. Then, share this alert with other Connecticut residents who support sensible marijuana policies.
