State Police: 2 Springfield men arrested in Chicopee on gun and drug charges
CHICOPEE – Two men from Springfield were arrested in Chicopee early Saturday morning after a traffic stop by police showed they were in possession of marijuana and an illegal firearm, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Omega Walker, 20, and Dregory Woodward, 18, were both taken into custody shortly after a State Trooper pulled over their Nissan Altima as it was traveling in the northbound lane of Rt 391 around 12:15 a.m.
The Trooper pulled over the vehicle after he observed it “operating erratically,” according to police.
Inside the car, the Trooper discovered over an ounce of marijuana, as well as materials consistent with the packaging and sale of drugs. He also discovered a Kel-Tec 9mm handgun that neither man was licensed to carry, police said.

Possession of Class D Drug with Intent to Distribute Possession/Carrying a Firearm Carrying a Dangerous Weapon Possession of a Firearm without FID card Possession of Ammunition without FID card Carrying a Loaded Firearm Possession of Marijuana over 1 oz. Not Secured Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle Possession of an Open Container of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle
Walker has additionally been charged with:
Firearm Violation with 1 Prior Violent Crime Possession of a Firearm in Felony Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Following their arrest, both Walker and Woodword were subsequently booked at the Springfield State Police barracks where they were held pending $1,000.00 bail each.
They are scheduled to appear in Chicopee District Court for arraignment on Monday.
