SMITHFIELD, R.I. — The police say they seized cash and weapons from a man accused of dealing drugs in town.

Dustin Santagata, 26, of 3 Ursula Rd., is charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of weapons when committing a crime of violence, and possession of marijuana, according to a news release from the Police Department.

According to the release, detectives began conducting surveillance of Santagata after receiving information that he was connected to drug sales in Smithfield. They obtained a search warrant for his home, where they seized more than five ounces of marijuana; four firearms, including an AR-15 rifle; 2,000 rounds of ammunition; a 2016 Honda Accord and $2,200 cash, according to the news release.

Santagata was arrested Thursday night and appeared Friday before Magistrate Joseph P. Ippolito in District Court, Warwick. He was ordered held without bail. A bail hearing is scheduled for March 29, according to the news release.
