Panel Talk In New Britain Will Focus on Debate Over Legalizing Marijuana
Should Connecticut legalize marijuana?
The New Britain Area League of Women Voters will take up that question when it sponsors a panel talk April 16.
Speakers include state Rep. Edwin Vargas, D-Hartford, who supported a legislative move to legalize marijuana last year; Robert Lawlor, a drug intelligence officer with the New England High Intensity Drug Trafficking Program; and Rep. Peter Tercyak, D-New Britain, who will discuss Connecticut’s medical marijuana program.
The discussion is scheduled for 7 p.m at Trinity-on-Main. The public is invited and admission is free.

“We think this is an issue on the minds of many Connecticut residents,” said Ann Speyer, secretary of the league’s local chapter.
Talk of marijuana legalization dominated the discussion at the organization’s annual legislative brunch meeting in January, she noted.
