Medical Marijuana Dispensary Set to Open in Mashpee
MASHPEE – The first medicinal marijuana dispensary on Cape Cod is about a week away from opening.
Triple M, formerly known as Medical Marijuana of Massachusetts, is scheduled to open the doors of its new Mashpee location on or around April 5.
The company, which grows it’s product at a facility in Plymouth, will offer various forms of marijuana, including smokables, vapors, tinctures and topicals. They will not sell edible forms of the drug.
“We’re very excited about being able to serve the public with this important and new concept,” said Jim Vaccaro, the dispensary supervisor.
Vaccaro said Triple M staff will be able to help individuals new to marijuana.
“We have staff on hand who are trained in this and can recommend the various types of products for various ailments,” he said.
Customers will need a state issued medicinal marijuana card to enter the building. The cards are issued by the Department of Public Health. Individuals can apply for them online.
Vaccaro believes the facility will have a strong customer base right after opening.
“We’ve been receiving a lot of phone calls over the last couple of weeks,” Vaccaro said.
The company opened another dispensary in Plymouth in early February and Vaccaro said about half of the customers at that location are from Cape Cod.
“We anticipate most of those people will end up coming to the Mashpee facility,” he said.
Vaccaro said he is not worried about the new law legalizing the recreational use of marijuana.
“At this time it really has no impact at all,” he said. “We’re focusing on the medical marijuana facility at this point.”
