Connecticut trio faces drug charges in Pleasant Valley

PLEASANT VALLEY – Three people from Connecticut were arrested Tuesday night in Pleasant Valley on drug charges, state police said.
Troopers said they stopped a 2016 Subaru Impreza on Wigsten Road about 10:40 p.m. for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
They said they smelled marijuana, searched the car and found 5 grams of crack-cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.
Clifford D. Akins, 59, faces felony charges of fourth- and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; and a violation of unlawful possession of marijuana. He’s been held at the Dutchess County Jail and is due in Pleasant Valley Town Court at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Two women in the car were charged with drug-possession misdemeanors. They were given appearance tickets to appear in Town Court on July 24 at 5 p.m., police said.
