Recreational weed in Connecticut is barely on the horizon. There is still a ways to go to have CT Medical Marijuana up and running. That being said, recreational marijuana polls found that a large majority of voters in Connecticut now support legalizing cannabis for adults.

Connecticut’s marijuana laws have improved its in recent years regarding recreational marijuana, although penalties still exist for adults in possession of cannabis. Since 2011, possession of a half-ounce or less of marijuana has been a civil violation in Connecticut, punishable by a fine of up to $150 and not offense that gets you sent to jail. Subsequent offenses are subject to increased fines ranging from $200-$500. Upon a third violation, offenders are referred to a drug awareness program. Also, those accused of being in possession do not have that on their criminal record. In addition to the fine, anyone under 21 who is found in possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana faces a 60-day suspension of his or hers driver’s license.
