NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities acting on a tip nabbed a man who they said tried to bring 60 pounds (27 kilograms) of marijuana to a Tennessee airport.
WTVF-TV reports that a drug detection K-9 found two suitcases holding 51 bags of marijuana after investigators received a tip that someone was traveling from Los Angeles with drugs. The Metro Nashville police arrest affidavit says Jose Medina Ayala was booked Thursday.
According to the arrest report, the drugs had been sprayed with Febreze to mask their scent. Ayala told investigators he didn’t know there was marijuana in his luggage.
He’s charged with felony drug counts and is being held on $100,000 bond. It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer.
