The Boston Bruins lost to the Washington Capitals 5-4 in overtime, but Friday’s preseason game was a solid night for some young Bruins.

Matt Fraser tied the game at one goal apiece in the first period on the power play without his helmet for his second goal of the preseason. Bruins prospect Seth Griffith scored twice with the help of teammate Jordan Caron, who earned an assist on both goals.

“I think I’ve been getting better,” Griffith said. “This is only my second preseason game, but I thought I played better than I did at home the other night.”

Coach Claude Julien called it a “fairly good game,” especially considering Washington’s roster, which included veteran forward and captain Alexander Ovechkin.
