Game Notes:

  • The Caps are bringing a fair-to-middling roster tonight. No Ovechkin, Backstrom, but Bruins-killer Joel Ward. No Nathan Walker, which I’m sad about (Australia!!!). Also, they’re pulling out all the stops on defense – Mike Green, Brooks Orpik, John Carlson. Likely we’ll see Braden Holtby for half the game.
  • Repeat night for Ryan Spooner and Simon Gagne. Not sure if this means the team is just trying to get a better read on the two of them or is giving them more ice time in the hopes of banking on them as a fourth line, but either way, this is Spooner’s shot to prove that the fact that he was on the ice last night for two goals against was the fault of his defenders, not his own “defensive liability.”

NEVER FORGET:

Spooner’s goal last night was siiiiiick.
