A shift in governance of the Red Sox is in store — Larry Lucchino will leave as the club CEO, he told Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy.
“I’ll be 70 in September. That’s sort of why I’m ready to step back,’’ Lucchino said.
The move will be announced next week. Red Sox COO Sam Kennedy is expected to replace him.
